The Independent Art Label was borne out  of frustration at the way the art world operates, how innovative artists are being thwarted from showing work at community and provincial galleries, their work deemed as inappropriate or too controversial. This also applies to larger and national  galleries where our label-mates don't fit the required cookie-cutter artistic profile. Isn't this what the art world is meant to be? We decided to set up The Independent Art Label as a way of supporting, encouraging and developing a roster of artists, giving them a space and a voice that they call their own and present their work   to a wider and more appreciative audience. We are of the opinion  that the state of the art world at this time is in a pretty sad/bad way and below you'll find our roster of artists presenting sometimes inflammatory, but definitely thought provoking new work.  We encourage you to join us on what we hope will be an exciting new journey with a totally different presentation format.
